Strategic Planning for Libraries
The MBLC does ask for specific items to be in a submitted strategic plan:
- Mission and/or Vision Statement
- Methodology (planning process/steps)
- Needs Assessment (what the community is looking for, determined by their input - survey, focus groups, interviews, etc.)
- Goals/Priorities (specific target/desired result)
- Actions (steps taken towards goals - included in yearly Action Plan)
- Approval of governing Board/authority
You can find further details on the MBLC webpage: Parts of a Strategic Plan
Beyond these requirements, any additional data is at the discretion of the library. There are no requirements on length, document layout, inclusion of images and/or graphics, or supporting materials.
